CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay baseball announced Tuesday that it will play a 55-game schedule for the 2021 season, beginning with a three-game series against nationally ranked Dallas Baptist on Friday, Feb. 19.
The Governors will face a tough road gauntlet that features 31 games away from Raymond C. Hand Park. It will be the most games visited in a season for Austin Peay since 1991.
Fans can rejoice after learning of a nine-game homestand that will take place April 23-May 4 and include matchups with SIUE and Arkansas State. Austin Peay will also welcome in North Alabama, Southeast Missouri and Bellarmine later in the season for midweek tilts.
After kicking off the regular-season at Dallas Baptist, the Governors will travel to take on Army-West Point for a three-game series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina, before hitting the road again for a three-game set against Northwestern State in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Austin Peay will play Southern Illinois on Tuesday, Feb. 23, in their home opener. The Govs’ first home-weekend series is scheduled for March 12-13 with Tennessee Tech.
As far as the league schedule goes, each Ohio Valley Conference series will make for a three-game, two-day series with one contest being played Friday before a doubleheader takes place on Saturday.
The Govs will face off against two Southeastern Conference opponents in 2021, including Ole Miss for an April 13 contest in Oxford, Mississippi, and a date with Vanderbilt, April 20 in Nashville.
