CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Local attorney Reid Poland has announced his campaign for General Sessions Judge, Division II, in the Republican primary, expected in May 2022.
Raised in Clarksville, Poland’s general law practice represents clients in criminal matters as well as domestic issues, military retirement cases and serves as a guardian ad litem for children in domestic law cases. Poland believes his experience as a trial lawyer in criminal cases and his broad experience in legal matters provides the foundation for serving on the bench as judge.
“We face many challenges in the days ahead, and I believe Montgomery County needs a trusted individual representing them in the courtroom who will protect the law, our Constitution and our community,” Poland said. “I would never try to legislate from the bench and would be honored to serve in this role.”
Poland is a 1985 graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, with a double major in history and communications. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1997 from the Nashville School of Law while also working as a full-time project manager for Nortel Networks. Reid was licensed by the Supreme Court to practice law in Tennessee in 1998. Poland is a member and former president of the Montgomery County Bar Association, and he served as Assistant Municipal Judge in Pegram, Tennessee. Poland is also a member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has provided pro bono work for Austin Peay State University.
Poland has been involved in numerous philanthropic and community organizations including the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Clarksville, board member for the Roxy Regional Theatre, Montgomery County Teen Court volunteer, president of the Rossview Hawks Football Booster Club, and board member of the Montgomery County Soccer Association. Poland has served as board member for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church International Festival, and on the Parish Council for St. Mary and James Catholic Church in Guthrie, Kentucky.
Reid and his wife, McClure, have been married for 27 years, and they have three grown sons, Hugh, John and Liam.
