CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The annual Empty Bowls project will soon kick off with their bowl painting parties around Clarksville. The local non-profit, Arts for Hearts, will host an Empty Bowls painting event October 3 at Downtown Commons in conjunction with the First Thursday ArtWalk.

The whole family is invited to come paint a bowl and use your creative hands and hearts from 5-7 p.m. A limited number of handmade bowls will be available to paint and decorate. All bowls painted will be donated to Empty Bowls Clarksville.

The Empty Bowls painting event is co-hosted by Potters Ken and Melody Shipley and Friends of Empty Bowls Clarksville.

The activity and purpose of Empty Bowls is to bring awareness to the hunger epidemic in our community. Community members can paint bowls at several locations around the city. The bowls are then redistributed at the Empty Bowls event in February. Details on other times and locations will be available soon.

Empty Bowls is a community collaboration initiative that creates awareness about hunger and homelessness. Individuals and community groups from all over the city donate bowls to the event that is held each February. All funds raised at the event support local hunger nonprofit organizations: Urban Ministries Grace Assistance, Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen and the Food Initiative. Registration is required for this event. Arts for Hearts Clarksville is a program of Arts and Heritage Development Council.
