CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The community is invited to come out to “Share Your Heart with Art”. Paint a ceramic heart keepsake and for every heart the community paints the Pottery Room will donate $2 to the Arts for Hearts Program.

The event will be held at the Pottery Room located at 110 Needmore Road in Clarksville on August 6 from 11:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. The cost to paint a heart keepsake is $7.

Arts for Hearts is a local grass roots community collaboration by the Downtown Artists Co-op, Arts Heritage Development Council and the First Presbyterian Church Activities and Outreach Center. Volunteer artists and those passionate about art share their time and talent to bring art in all forms to low income and at risk individuals and families in Clarksville-Montgomery County.

The Arts for Hearts program strives to eliminate barriers to cultural participation so that everyone has an opportunity to engage in art.

“Art programs bring people together for the common goal of positive creative expression. This collective unity and a supportive environment can positively impact those dealing with poverty and isolation. Taking part in arts activities is known to boost skills, motivate and improve self-esteem. We want to empower and encourage people to take an active part in a variety of art forms,” said Rita Arancibia, one of the organizers of the Arts for Hearts program.

The program currently offers classes at the First Presbyterian Activities and Outreach Center to homeless and at-risk individuals. Beginning in August Arts for Hearts will expand, adding the Old Fire House Day Shelter and the Summit Heights Community.

The program provides materials and supplies for volunteer artists at the various Arts for Hearts program sites. Donations from the community are welcome. Artists and anyone interested in volunteering can email artsforheartsclarksville@gmail.com or call 615-504-0285.

Arts for Hearts is generously funded in part by Kara Dioguardi, American singer/songwriter and music publisher along with local community support.
