Arthur William Hunt, Jr., age 93, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015, at his residence.
Arthur was born January 17, 1922, in Montgomery County, TN to the late Arthur Hunt, Sr. and Myrtle Hunt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Argie Lee Hunt; and five siblings, Charles Hunt, Margaret Schmittou, Bill Hunt, J.B. Hunt, and Jack Hunt.
He was a guidance counselor at Clarksville High School for over three decades and also served as a Montgomery County magistrate and commissioner. A World War II army veteran, he served in the South Pacific in the 475th Battalion, Battery D.
Arthur is survived by three children, Mary Beth (Fred Love) Hunt of Clarksville, Arthur (Sheila) Hunt III of Jackson, TN, and Margaret “Joan” (Jeff) Hunt-Henderson of Lake Orion, MI; four grandchildren, Chloé Morrison of Chattanooga, Erica (Nathan) Holloway of Freeman, SD, Meghan (Greg) Joly of Nashville, and Justin (Coleen) Hunt of Clarksville; and two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Audra Holloway.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with his son, Arthur Hunt, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 and from noon until the hour of service at the funeral home on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
