CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Armed Services YMCA of Fort Campbell is looking towards a classic car show later this month in attempts to reach its annual fundraising goal.
The ASYMCA supports junior enlisted military members – E5 and below – by providing programming for soldiers and their families. They look to enhance their lives in spirit, mind and body with programs relevant to military life.
It will be the first car show ever done by the organization as they aim to reach their mark of $50,000.
“Often our focus is on the military child who greatly feels the impact of military life by way of deployed parents, distance from family and friends, and the difficulties associated with moving to new duty locations,” said Lindsey White, executive director of the ASYMCA, in a release. “Another impact specifically to the junior enlisted soldiers and their families is on access to quality early education at affordable costs.
“Through donations, grants and sponsorships, we are able to assist in filling that educational gap with pre-k and kindergarten classes as well as STEM focused elementary courses. … Again, we are able to do these things and support those who support our lives and our freedoms through the generosity of our community and it’s partners.”
The organization is currently in need of classic cars, volunteers and vendors. The show is scheduled to take place July 25 at the Valor Hall Conference and Event Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
