MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – The cool fall temperatures provide the perfect weather for visiting area farms to enjoy pumpkin picking, hayrides, corn mazes and even one zoo. This area has two such spots: Boyd’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze and Patterson Place Farm.

On a recent afternoon, cars were lined up and down the drive at 1425 Hwy 76, right off of Exit 11, at Boyd’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze.

People were at Boyd’s to look at the vast array of pumpkins for sale for 25 cents per pound (totals range from approximately $2 to $5 per pumpkin). This has been a tradition among Clarksvillians since 1984. The pumpkin patch is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Oct. 31 and is free to enter.

There is also a 6-acre corn maze at Boyd’s Pumpkin Patch, which is open for children six years of age and older for an admission charge of $4. Children five years old and younger get into the maze free of charge.

In nearby Woodlawn, at 2480 Patterson Road, Patterson Place Farm offers a free corn maze and a pick-your-own pumpkin patch (cash only), where pumpkins range from $3 to $5. Additionally there are a variety of activities for a $5 admission fee, including a hay ride and a licensed zoo with farm animals and exotic animals, including “Gordon the Camel.” The farm also includes a farmer’s market and a picnic pavilion for those who want to nosh while visiting.

Patterson Place Farm is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Nov. 1. For more information visit the Facebook site at www.facebook.com/PattersonPlaceFarm or call (931) 206-7430. There are school field trips available Monday through Friday by appointment.
