CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The new clay target club at Austin Peay State University recently attended their first competition of the year at Montgomery County Shooting Complex.

The 2019 USAYESS Southern Regional College Clay Target Championship was held April 13 and 14. APSU competed against the UT Knoxville Clay Target Team, Hiawassee College, and Str8 Shooters Clay Team.

Competing this weekend were John Michael Baggett, Hunter Purviance and Wylie Randall.

“I am so proud of our first-year club here at Austin Peay. We may be small, but we are a strong group of shooting sports athletes. I have such high expectations for this season and the future to come for this club,” Club President Makayla Boisseau said.

The APSU Clay target Club won the following awards:

Team Award:
High Over All Collegiate Team with a combined score of 849/975

Squad Awards:
1st Place Skeet
1st Place Sporting Clays
1st Place 5 Stand
3rd Place Trap

Individual Awards include:

John Michael Baggett: 1st Place Skeet with a 100/100, 2nd Place Sporting Clays with a 94/100, 2nd Place Trap with a 92/100, 3rd Place 5 Stand with a 19/25

Hunter Purviance: 2nd Place Skeet with a 99/100, 1st Place Sporting Clays with a 96/100, 1st Place 5 Stand with a 22/25

Wylie Randall had an impressive showing as a first-year shooter in his inaugural competition with a total score of 243/325.
