CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Austin Peay State University will once again host Greater Halloween Options for Safe Trick-or-Treating (G.H.O.S.T.) on Sunday, Oct. 28.

The APSU student government association (SGA) is inviting children in Clarksville and surrounding areas to join the Halloween fun at Fortera Stadium. Groups on campus and in the community will be dressed up and handing out candy from 4-7 p.m.

The event is free.

G.H.O.S.T. is a longstanding tradition at APSU, sponsored by Student Government Association. Although it was originally intended for the children of APSU students, faculty, and staff, G.H.O.S.T. has expanded to welcome families from the local community.

APSU clubs and organizations, as well as groups from the community, dress up, hand out candy, and play games with children from Clarksville and the surrounding area.

According to APSU’s Brian Dunn, two unique displays will be up this year:

A DRAGON PROTECTS THE CASTLE

APSU’s Del Square Psi, which is the physics and astronomy club, is building a massive castle that will include a dragon. The chemistry club, or Chi Epsilon Mu, will provide special effects.

The castle will be 16 feet long and 16 feet wide, have a drawbridge, and APSU students will take turns in the stockade (no more than 15 minutes each, we promise!).

THE SKELETON IN THE CAVE HAS CANDY

APSU’s GeoClub has built a 20-foot-long cave that will be lighted with tealight candles, red chemical lights and white Christmas lights. Inside a skeleton will guard a treasure chest filled with fake gems. But first you have to get past the bats and spiders!

“We have TONS of candy,” said club president Jennifer Stephens. “And because we are the GeoClub, lots of rock candy as well.”
