CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Austin Peay State University announced Tuesday that it would be hitting the pause button on men’s basketball activities due to COVID-19 protocols.

The news rains down just four days after Austin Peay men’s basketball coach Matt Figger put out a statement via social media that he tested positive for COVID-19.

The Govs’ upcoming road trip to UT-Martin and SEMO has been postponed as a result.

As of now, the games themselves are allowed to be made up at a later date, as long as the contests are rescheduled in the order that they were delayed.

In their last contest, which took place on Saturday, the Governors went to Eastern Illinois and came away with a 74-71 win at the buzzer on a Terry Taylor made three-pointer.

Austin Peay (7-4) currently sits in fifth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with a 3-2 record in league play.
