CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Rotary Club welcomed Austin Peay State University’s new Head Football Coach, Mark Hudspeth, as a guest at their Wednesday meeting.

Coach Hudspeth first talked to the Rotarians about his family, saying they have fallen in love with Austin Peay and Clarksville-Montgomery County’s communities.

He began his comments by joking with club members, saying he was really excited because, at this moment, he was the only head football coach in the history of the program to be undefeated so they were off to a good start.

“We’re working on a culture of discipline, toughness, accountability, caring for one another and doing the little things, making sure our student athletes have every detail they need to be successful and play Division I Football,” said Hudspeth.

Hudspeth had this to say about the Govs football team. “We’ve got some good players, but I’ll tell you what we probably have better of right now. We’ve got some exceptional young men that are representing the university and their community in a way that would make you proud.”.

Hudspeth added that he is anxious to turn the players loose on the field and that he thinks the fans are going to see a group of players ready to play really hard for them.

“I hope everybody will make it out to Fortera Stadium,” said Hudspeth.  “It’s going to be a great night, a great crowd and a lot of fun, so bring the kids and come out and support your Governors.”

The Govs take on North Carolina Central in their season opener Thursday night at 7:00 at Fortera Stadium. Catch all the action on ESPN Clarksville, 104.1 FM, 540 AM or streaming live online.
