CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLE) – As part of the APSU Inter-Fraternity Council’s Social Distancing Olympics 2020 event, collegiate gamers will compete in a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tournament, raising money for Loaves and Fishes, a local nonprofit that distributes food to those in need. This is an open event, and matches will be streamed live online for audiences everywhere.
The event hopes to raise at least $600. Donations can be made here.
The event is part of the Social Distancing Olympics, hosted by the Inter-Fraternity Council. Other events have included Tik Tok Tuesday, Govs Gear Thursday and a 2k20 tournament.
“Come out and cheer on your favorite APSU organizations and donate to Loaves and Fishes who are providing meals to community members during this pandemic,” said event organizer Berto Roman.
Teams for tomorrow’s tournament include several APSU fraternities and sororities. The event is open to any active student and registration is still open. Competitors will compete in a single-elimination, bracketed format. If more teams register, the format may be changed to double elimination. For questions about registration, email bertoaroman@gmail.com
The competition will begin at noon and run until approximately 4 p.m. Matches will be broadcast via Twitch.
“The reason I wanted to contact you was to see if you or someone could cover this either in the paper or the radio,” said Roman. “We are doing this to help spread positivity for the students in these negative times, and by raising money for Loaves and Fishes we believe can also help those in need.”
