CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The next phase of the NFL off-season has begun following the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft. A number of rookie minicamps kick off this week for teams, their draft picks, undrafted free agents and players on a tryout.
This includes the Baltimore Ravens, who invited Austin Peay cornerback Kordell Jackson for a tryout. Jackson was a playmaker for the Governors throughout his collegiate career.
His film and statistics show his ability to consistently disrupt passing lanes for opposing quarterbacks. According to Austin Peay Football, he finished his college football career with 11 interceptions and 33 passes deflected. This included 7 interceptions and 10 passes deflected in 2019.
Jackson also showcased his ability to stop the run and make tackles downhill while at Austin Peay State University. He totaled 217 total tackles throughout his career, and that included 33.5 tackles for a loss.
According to Austin Peay Athletics, Jackson was a three-time first team OVC selection and a two-time NCAA consensus All-American.
Prior to the draft, Kordell Jackson attended University of Tennessee’s pro day to be measured, and to have his agility, speed and strength tested. According to Draft-Scout.com, below is his data and results.

Jackson said he was playing Call of Duty when he received a call from his agent with the news. He described the moment as unforgettable and something he will always be grateful for.
What’s next
“The Ravens are a great organization and have a history of being defensive minded,” said Jackson. “It means a lot knowing I fit the style of defense they play. My expectation for next week is to go in, be myself, work hard and have fun.”
Jackson has a chance to attend another NFL rookie minicamp if he doesn’t come to terms with Baltimore. The New Orleans Saints also invited him to try out for their team.
He isn’t the only Governor football player scheduled to attend a NFL rookie minicamp in the near future. Austin Peay offensive linemen Joe Ware has been invited to take part in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers minicamp next week.
