ROCK HILL, S.C.—After reaching new heights on a seemingly weekly basis to open the fall, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team saw its fall campaign come to a close in harsh conditions at the Winthrop Intercollegiate at Rock Hill Country Club, Sunday.

Despite a top-10 showing from senior Morgan Kauffman, the Governors fell from fourth to sixth after Day One, Radford and Bethune-Cookman pushing the Govs out of the top-five. Austin Peay’s final-round 323 was its highest tally from the fall campaign.

“It’s a disappointing weekend,” said head coach Sara Robson. “We played a tough course in tough conditions and we just couldn’t score.

“But this team has had a great fall and they need to remember that. We have a lot to look forward to in the spring. We need to rest, work hard on a few things during the offseason and peak at the right time in the spring.”

Kauffman continued her stellar player from the opening round and narrowly missed out on All-Tournament honors. Her final-round 78 was tied for the team-low; she finished at 154 (76-78).

Sophomore Taylor Goodley battled back from an 82 in the opening round with a 78 on Sunday, giving her a tie for 16th along with freshman Meghann Stamps (78-82).

Sophomore Ashton Goodley (82-88=170) and junior AnnaMichelle Moore (87-85=172) rounded out the lineup for APSU, while junior Amber Bosworth (82-86=168) did well as the Govs individual, tying for 32nd.

The Govs will now take the winter off and rest up for the six-event spring season, which begins March 10-11 with a dual against Belmont in Gulf Shores, Alabama at Craft Farms Golf Resort.
