CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) The Clarksville Association of Realtors (CAR) hosted their 14th Appetite for Art fundraiser for the S.O.S. (Spreading Our Support), and the F.U.E.L. Food Ministry in Montgomery County on Friday, April 9 at the Silo Event Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Close to 100 guests enjoyed dinner, music, and an auction of original artwork by local Montgomery County students. The theme for the event was “Healthy Eating,” and the artists were asked to depict what healthy eating means to them, looks like in their life, or feels like to them.

Sandy Hester, 2021 Chairman, of the Helping Hands Committee for the Appetite for Art talked about the event.

“We collect artwork from the local students in Montgomery County and we auction those off.  We have a live auction, and we have a table auction, with all proceeds raised going straight to the F.U.E.L. program in Montgomery County,” Hester said.

Hester added that over the past 14 years close to $150,000 has been raised for the F.U.E.L. Food Ministry.  No figures were available Friday night on how much money was raised for the 2021 Appetite for Art.

The categories included preschool, kindergarten-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grades, middle school, and high school and there were seven art pieces featured in the live auction and around 20 other pieces on the dining tables that were for sale as part of the fundraiser.

F.U.E.L. is a food subsidization program run by volunteers that feeds those children whose only food source may be the food they receive from meals at school.  Donated food is collected and placed directly into the backpacks of the children on Friday for the weekend.
