CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Another round of snow and ice is expected for Middle Tennessee on Friday, and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect through Saturday at 9 a.m.

Forecasters say temperatures will dip into the single digits Thursday night with dangerously low windchill values.

Temps will reach 30 degrees on Friday with a chance of light snow in the morning, then a heavier mix of sleet and snow in the afternoon with a possibility of one to two inches of accumulation during the day.

Freezing rain is expected in the evening with just rain after midnight. Ice accumulation up to one quarter inch is predicted. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Gusty winds will add to the threat of falling limbs and power outages.

The cold will finally break on Saturday with a high of 49 and lots of rain.

Road conditions have improved but more precipitation may change that, making travel hazardous again Friday. Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) crews are working to clear interstates and focusing on shoulders and ramps. Many secondary roads and parking lots are still icy.

TDOT officials say the department has received numerous calls from the public to clear roads and is emphasizing that they are responsible for state roads only. All other local roads are managed and maintained by local governments, public works, and highway departments.

Clarksville police responded to six crashes overnight, with three involving injuries. There were five motorist assists in the city overnight.

A single power outage was reported in the Jordan Drive area when a transformer reportedly blew on Pointer Lane, affecting local residences and at least one traffic light. No other power outages have been reported.
