Anne Dorris, age 87, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Dogwood Bend Assisted Living.

Anne was born July 25, 1928, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Charles Cory and Bertha Huffstutler Cory. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Thomas Dorris; and her sister, Mary Gagne.

Anne was a member of St. Bethlethem United Methodist Church, where she was a choir director. She was a teacher in the Todd County, KY School System for 16 years, as a fifth grade teacher. Mrs. Dorris loved music and was a sopranist. She was also an avid reader.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 19, at 11:00 AM, at St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church, with Dr. Betty Merriweather and Rev. Richard Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service, at the church.

Anne is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ronnie) Stovall and Karen (Glenn) Jackson, both of Clarksville; daughter-in-law, Maryann Dorris of Nashville; four grandchildren, William Cory (Mary Beth) Barfield, Michael Dallas (Kelly) Barfield, Jason (Tiffany) Jackson, and Dylan (Haley) Jackson; and six great grandchildren, Isabel and Aaron Barfield, Madison and Hudson Barfield, and Kyle and Kayden Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Cory Barfield, Dallas Barfield, Jason Jackson, Dylan Jackson, Ronnie Stovall, Glenn Jackson, Bill Barfield, and Ed Sugg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2201 Old Russellville Pike, Clarksville, TN 37040.

As a tribute to an avid Alabama fan, Anne wished to praise her beloved Crimson Tide with “Roll Tide!” one last time.
