Wallace Road – On April 12, an Animal Control Officer responded to a possible abandonment case. Upon arrival, the officer met with the landlords who stated the tenants had been evicted two weeks prior. Upon entry into the residence, the officer found a very scared and emaciated black Labrador retriever on a couch. There was electricity and water had been turned off in the residence. The living areas of the house were covered in fecal matter and dried urine and no food was available for the dog. Upon further investigation, the officer found dog food in a bedroom, but the door had been shut. There were significant scratch marks and deep indentations on the front door and windows from the dog attempting to escape. The dog was taken into protective custody. Charges are pending at this time, while the owner is located.
Lylewood Road – On April 16, Animal Control was contacted by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office regarding a deceased dog on the property. The complainant stated that he had not seen anyone at the residence in several weeks. The residence was left open and upon both officers entering the house, they observed copious amounts of feces inside from the deceased large dog. The Animal Control officer entered a closed room and found an emaciated puppy and kitten with no food or water and a large amount of feces. Both the puppy and kitten were taken into protective custody and taken for immediate medical care. Upon further investigation, the owners were found. The one owner stated they were away for a few days. Warrants for aggravated animal cruelty are in the process of being filed.
Outlaw Road – On April 17, Animal Control was contacted by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office regarding a dog that was tangled on his chain, panting heavily with no access to shelter or water in 80 degree direct sunlight. Upon arrival, the Animal Control Officer observed a Husky/Shepherd mix with a pink water bucket turned over. The complainant stated the bucket had been like that for a week. Upon untangling the dog, both officers found a choke collar embedded deeply into the dog’s neck. The dog was immediately taken to the vet for care. Both owners will be served with warrants for aggravated animal cruelty.
