Moncrest Drive – On July 11, Animal Control received a call regarding an abused puppy. Upon arrival Animal Control met with the complainant who said that an 8-week-old puppy belonging to his roommate had urinated on the owner’s jeans. The owner hit, kicked, and then threw the 8-week-old Lab mix puppy against a wall two times. The puppy was immediately rushed to a local veterinary hospital for treatment and placed under protective custody. Felony warrants were issued for the owner on July 29.

Crossland/Pageant – On July 29, Animal Control received an after hour’s call from Clarksville PD regarding a dog that had been hit by a car. Upon arrival, the Animal Control Officer, with the help of Clarksville PD, placed the dog in the Animal Control vehicle. Unfortunately, the unneutered male Pit bull type dog died en route to veterinary hospital. Please remember, it is the law if you hit an animal with your vehicle to stop and contact local authorities and report it immediately.

Laura Drive – On July 27, Animal Control received a call regarding a dog that appeared lost and had been roaming the area for several days. The caller said the dog was in very bad condition and was thin and had no hair. Animal Control responded to the area and found the dog and the owner. The dog, a 15 year old Golden Retriever, was blind, deaf, and incontinent. The owner admitted she had been urinating in the house and had been placing her outside with no fenced area, so she had been wandering. The owner admitted that his dog was suffering and he surrendered the dog to Animal Control who humanely euthanized the dog for the owner.

Madison Street – On July 28, Animal Control received a call about an abandoned dog on Madison Street in the Hunter Chase Apartment Complex. Upon arrival, an Animal Control Officer found a grey and white Pit bull type dog in a wire crate with a bag of food next to him. The dog was left in direct sunlight in 95 degree temperatures and was panting profusely. The dog was picked up by Animal Control and taken to the shelter and will be available for adoption after his stray hold period is over. If you are unable to care for your animals, please do not abandon them, please call Animal Control for resources.

Peacher’s Mill – On July 14, Animal Control was contacted after hours regarding an abandoned dog at Heritage Park. Upon arrival, the officer found a tan and white Pit bull type dog tied to post on a leash. The complainant had given the dog, which was in direct sunlight and intense heat, water until Animal Control arrived on scene. The dog is currently available for adoption.

Dave Drive – On July 28, Clarksville PD received a call regarding a dog that had been dead in its back yard for four days. Upon arrival, they found the decomposing body of a Lab type dog and an unsecure residence. Upon further investigation they found two cats in the residence with no food or water. Animal Control arrived on scene and started a cruelty investigation. Both cats were taken into protective custody and felony animal cruelty charges for the owner of the animals will be processed this week.
