Greenfield Drive
Animal Control received a call from Queen City Disposal April 15 regarding a dog that had been abandoned in a dog crate in a large dumpster. Upon arrival, the Animal Control officer found a deceased gray and white pit bull type dog. The dog was taken to Animal Hospital to begin a cruelty investigation. It was determined the dog most likely had Parvovirus. If you have any information on the owner, please contact Animal Control immediately. A $14 vaccine could have saved his life!
Roselawn Dr.
On April 17, Animal Control received a call from a concerned citizen about a dog that had been abandoned and tied to a pole in a park. Animal Control responded and the officer found a pit bull type dog wet from the rain, and transported the dog to Animal Control. No owner has come forward at this time, and the dog will be available for adoption on April 22.
Elm Hill Drive
On April 15, Animal Control responded to a call regarding a call of a pit bull type dog that broke free from a logging chain and attacked two small Chihuahua type dogs that were in their own back yard. The pit bull type dog took one Chihuahua and shook it violently in his mouth. One Chihuahua was immediately taken to the veterinarian for emergency care. Animal Control deemed the pit bull type dog dangerous.
Hinson Road
Animal Control responded to a call of a dog hanging from its runner cable on April 21. Upon arrival, the officer found a deceased chocolate Labrador retriever hanging from a twisted cable with a choke collar. Charges are pending at this time. As a reminder, choke collars are only to be used for training and/or walking, never for chaining.

On April 18, Animal Control received an update regarding an abandoned Korean Jindo that was rescued on July 21, 2014. In August 2014 a wonderful lady came from New Jersey to adopt “Gomie.” The owner told the staff at Animal Control in her recent email that because of her love for Gomie and because she saw how dedicated the staff was to saving animals, it inspired her to start volunteering at her local shelter!
