CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Montgomery County Animal Care and Control (MCAC) officers were able to track and capture three dogs this week that had been running loose since July.

Director Jeanette Farrell said MCAC was able to track the dogs’ movements with the help of a local lost and found pets Facebook page.

The female black Lab, Basset Hound, and brown Lab mix were covered in fleas and ticks when they were finally found. The Basset Hound was also very skinny. MCAC determined two of the dogs were previously owned because they were still wearing identifying collars. Farrell said the facility did not have any reports from owners about these dogs being lost.

Within the past week, Animal Control received more than five calls about the dogs being loose. For two of the calls, officers responded within minutes, but the dogs were gone on arrival.

On Thursday, Nov. 2, Officer Scarborough found two of the dogs tangled together and the third dog would not leave the others’ sides. Officer Scarborough was able to get one dog on a catchpole and the other dog on a snappy snare.

Officer Foran arrived on scene to untangle the dogs and assist the responding officer. All three dogs were taken to Animal Control where they received vaccinations, deworming medicine, food, and warm beds.

The dogs will be placed on stray hold for five days and will then need time to adjust and become socialized with other dogs before they will be available for adoption.
