MCAC took in a total of 329 animals (110 cats, 216 dogs, 2 rabbits and 1 gerbil). Of these, 87 were owner surrenders (28 cats, 57 dogs and 2 rabbits). Three cats and 4 dogs were placed under protective custody due to cruelty cases, 4 animals were abandoned (3 cats and 1 dog) and 210 animals were brought in as strays (76 cats, 133 dogs, and 1 chicken). 1 cat and 12 dogs were returned adoptions.
On the out-take side, 372 animals were processed out of the facility: 192 were adopted to new homes (63 cats and 129 dogs); 126 transferred to rescue organizations (50 cats and 76 dogs); and 54 happily reclaimed by their owners (3 cats and 51 dogs).
Sadly, 48 animals were euthanized (24 cats, 23 dogs and 1 gerbil).
“December was an amazing month for us! This is our best adoption month, rescue month, and our lowest euthanasia rate ever!” Director Jeanette Farrell said. “Thank you to all those who adopted, fostered and rescued! Look at all the lives you have saved!”
