CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) She always has a smile on her face, is a joy to be around and continuously thinks of others first. That is a friend’s description of Angelia Marshall, our February Community Hero.
Marshall was very happy when we asked her about being chosen as the latest Community Hero. “I feel elated, I was excited. My friend told me she put me in for the Community Hero, and I didn’t think I was going to win. Then everybody came and started hugging me saying you won,” Marshall said.
She works at Northeast Elementary School and is an Educational Assistant who works with special needs children and says she loves it, “if your heart is not in it don’t do it but if your heart is in it, give it your all. It’s a beautiful experience and it will make a difference in those children’s lives,” said Marshall.
Marshall attends Clarksville Community Church and wanted to recognize Pastor Willie Robin Little and her church family, where she helps with outreach and the nursing home ministry, feeding the hungry, book bags at the start of the school year and a holiday Christmas giveaway for children.
Barbara Peterson nominated Marshall and she said she wanted to send a special “shout out” to her. Marshall also thanked her family and friends, her family back home in Florida, the Northeast Elementary School staff and workers, all of the Northeast Eagles and everyone who voted for her.
Do you have a friend, family member, co-worker, or neighbor that embodies community spirit? Someone who is always going above and beyond for others? The Grand Prize is $300 thanks to our sponsors Melinda Kelly-Major, Jodi’s Cabinets, and Planters Bank.
