CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Have you ever tried to read something on your phone and suddenly realized you don’t have your glasses? Well, if you have an Android phone there’s a free app available that will come to your rescue.

glassesappThe app, “I Forgot My Glasses” (IFMG), helps users read when they can’t find their reading glasses. The app lets you zoom in or out on text, adjust contrast, change text to black and white and turn on an LED light on your device in areas of low light.

David Greer of Clarksville came up with the idea of the app when he and a friend were in a restaurant and his friend was stretching his arms out, holding the menu and trying to read it. Greer said he jokingly asked his friend if his arms were getting shorter.

Greer then asked his friend if there was something on his phone that would help him read the text and there wasn’t, so his friend told him he should come up with something that would take care of the problem. That planted the idea in Greer’s head and the rest, as they say, is history.

“The app is a vision helper and can be a tool for people who leave the house and forget their reading glasses. People who really don’t prefer to borrow their spouse’s reading glasses to read a menu, a program, or any type of small text,” Greer said .

The app is free and can be downloaded through the Google Play Store on your device.
