CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) “America’s Run for the Fallen” passed through Clarksville-Montgomery County Tuesday honoring close to 20,000 service members who have lost their lives in the War on Terror. Volunteer runners began their day at 7:00 a.m. on Highway 41-A at the Tennessee-Kentucky state line.

The runners made their way down Fort Campbell Blvd., Providence Blvd., Riverside Drive and to Highway 48 heading for Dickson, Tennessee. The runners stopped every mile along the route to honor and recognize a fallen service member.

The runners stopped at one-mile intervals at a pre-placed marker and spoke the name of a fallen service member followed by a brief one minute ceremony and then made their way to the next marker. The name of each service member is based on the chronological date of their death.

It was day 88 of America’s Run for the Fallen which began at Fort Irwin, California on April 7 and will end August 5 at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. covering 6,000 miles and over 19 states in four months.
