CLARKSVILLE, TN – In June, the American Legion CSM Gary W. Crisp Post 289 executive committee members were elected for 2024-2025. The committee formally meets monthly to coordinate and direct the programs and volunteer efforts of the post.

Officers elected for the 2024-2025 term are:

  • Marc Mathes (Commander)
  • Bob Grigsby (Adjutant)
  • Tony Saluzzo (1st Vice Commander)
  • Ernest Schmidt (2nd Vice Commander)
  • Paul Pavlovich (Finance Officer)
  • Tom Johnson (Sergeant-at-Arms)
  • Kenneth Hankinson (Service Officer)

Current appointed officers:

  • Andy Berard (Judge Advocate)
  • Anthony Carmona (Chaplain)
  • Darrell Vance (Historian & Social Media / Webmaster)
  • Brian Terry (Post Scouting Chairman Troop 289 COR)

Also, Roy West was selected to be the newest Commander of the 6th District Sons of the American Legion, while Ernest Schmidt was selected to be the 6th District Scouting Chairman.

Since Post 289 was chartered in 2016, membership has grown to more than 300 members. The post is dedicated to caring for veterans, service members, and their families. The post also sponsors programs that mentor community youth and provide temporary financial assistance, emergency aid for disasters, and educational scholarships. We help veterans with their VA benefits and provide volunteer services at assisted living and senior centers.

The post meets inside the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library in Veterans Plaza from 6-7:30 p.m., on the third Tuesday of the month. All veterans and their families are welcome to attend.
