CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Altra Federal Credit Union in Clarksville has a new location for their branch on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and they recently held a ribbon cutting with the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate.
Branch Manager for the new location, James Satterfield, talked abot Altra being a community credit union. “It used to be a credit union for Trane mainly, but now it serves the total community,” said Satterfield. Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the community is eligible to become a member.
Satterfield said the new state-of-the-art office on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard is more spacious and offers a smart ATM both outside and inside. He added they feature A+ checking, savings, auto loans, mortgages, certificates, business accounts, real estate loans, construction loans, and VA funding.
Rose Melton, Office Manager for the Madison Street location of Altra talked about the difference between a credit union and a bank. “A credit union is non-profit, so they are member owned and operated by its members,” Melton said.
Melton added that this allows the opportunity for any income that is made going back into the form of lower rates, higher savings rates, and they don’t pay stockholders. Altra is also federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
