Alton Lamar Mikell, age 82, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016, at Gateway Medical Center.
Alton was born January 2, 1934, in Lake City, FL, to the late James Alton Mikell and Mamie Lillion Tyre Mikell. Mr. Mikell was a retired CW3 from the US Army, where he served for 26 years. He also owned Mikell Auto Repair and was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville.
Funeral service will be held Monday, February 22, at 12:00 Noon, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Dr. John David Laida officiating. Interment will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, in Hopkinsville, with full military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, February 21, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, and Monday, February 22, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
Alton is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jessup Mikell; son, Steven Lamar Mikell of Clarksville; two daughters, Kathryn Mikell (Dr. Ronald) Whitford of Clarksville and Martha Sue (Jeffery) Parker of Lake City, FL; brother, Randolph Mikell of Lake City, FL; sister, Jean Oquin of Perry, FL; four grandchildren, Charity Lane (George) Watson, Jonathan Michael (Susan) Smalley, Jesse Lamar Mikell, and Jenny Elizabeth Whitford; and one great grandson, Barrett Michael Smalley.
