CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With early voting for the Nov. 3 election halfway through, almost 15,000 people in Montgomery County have cast their ballots. This is the State General and City of Clarksville election, with governor, Congress, Tennessee General Assembly, city mayor and half the City Council on the ballot.

The early voting period lasts 14 days, and Wednesday was Day 7. As of Wednesday, 14,786 ballots had been cast at the four early voting sites, along with nursing home and mail-in votes.

That’s much higher than the turnout at the midpoint in the most recent similar election in November 2022 – which was also a federal midterm, state and city election with the governor and mayor on the ballot. That election had only 8,427 at the midpoint. The final voter turnout in November 2022 was 29.78%.

This voting pace is more similar to November 2018, which had 16,244 at the early voting midpoint and ended with 47.77% turnout. So at this pace, Montgomery County is likely to see about 45% turnout.

Here are the final Montgomery voter turnouts for recent presidential midterm/city mayor cycle elections:

  • 2006: Bush midterm, 48.41%
  • 2010: Obama midterm, 33.76%
  • 2014: Obama midterm: 29.87%
  • 2018: Trump midterm: 47.77%
  • 2022: Biden midterm: 29.78%
