ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – WKRN News 2 reports that an Allen County commonwealth attorney filed its intent Friday morning to seek the death penalty against the Kentucky man accused of raping and murdering a 7-year-old girl during a little league football game nearly four months ago.
Timothy Madden was arrested for Gabbi Doolin’s murder days after she was found dead in a small stream of water near Allen County Scottsville High School on the night of Nov. 14.
An arrest warranted stated that Gabbi was raped, manually strangled, and drowned.
Madden faces charges of kidnapping, rape, sodomy and murder.
After the intent to seek the death penalty was filed against Madden Friday his lawyer Travis Lock released a statement to News 2, saying, “This is not a decision that was unanticipated in any way. I accepted the responsibility of defending Timothy Madden knowing well that the Commonwealth would likely pursue a capital indictment. Today’s decision will not change the way that this case is defended. I will continue to provide the best representation to my client that I am capable of providing.”
Madden, a former construction worker and father of five, has maintained his innocence since his arrest and pleaded not guilty to the charges in mid-January.
He’s being held on $1 million bond.
