CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Enjoy juicy Wagyu beef, sushi and ramen at Akita Ramen Sushi & Izakaya, which has opened in Sango.

Owner Eddie Senchen has been working in Japanese restaurants since he was 17 years old. He started out with his brother in New York City and then moved to Charleston, South Carolina. A friend then opened a restaurant in Brentwood, where Senchen ran the sushi bar.

An opportunity later came up to work in Knoxville. After a few years, and then COVID, Senchen saw the growth that Clarksville had seen in the last few years and felt that Sango would be a great fit.

Senchen said he serves the best quality sushi you can find in Tennessee, and that he wanted to offer an option that he has seen in Nashville, but not in Clarksville. Senchen insists on presenting Wagyu beef, and also “toro,” which is the fatty belly part of a bluefin tuna. Senchen also notes that the menu is expected to change every six months.

The restaurant also features an “izakaya,” which is an informal Japanese bar.

Akita Ramen Sushi & Izakaya is at 1101 Meadowhill Lane, Suite E, just off Madison Street. Their hours are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday noon-9:30 p.m.
