CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The 14th Anual Miss Black Clarksville Scholarship Pageant took place Saturday, Feb. 23 at Kenwood High School and excitement filled the air as Ajayla Shanell Rasin was crowned 2019 Miss Black Clarksville.

Rasin is a senior at Northeast High School and plans to attend Austin Peay State University to major in psychology. Upon completing her undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate studies, she plans to become a professional psychological therapist.

In addition, she wants to continue her modeling career that she started when she was 13 years old in Kuwait, where she lived for over eight years. She hopes to fulfill her dream of becoming a top international fashion model.

The Miss Black Clarksville Scholarship contestants were judged on sports wear, talent, evening wear, and on stage interviews. The contestants were also required to select a platform they felt strongly about and support it through community service.

The Senior Contestants that competed for the title of 2019 Miss Black Clarksville were: Lydia Townsend, Jayla Wright, Ajayla Rasin, Barbara Queen, Juliana Morgan, and Nyah Catus. Those that competed in the other categories were Junior Miss featuring Khayla Maduka and Shapell Queen with Shapel Queen being named the 2019 Junior Miss.

Little Miss contestants were Ebony Hutchenson, Ava Rasin, Willow Smith, and Amaiya Stacker and Amaiya Stacker won the title of 2019 Little Miss. Those participating in the Mini Miss pageant were Brooklyn Farley, Caiyah Ricks, Leighton Sutton, and Londyn Stallworth with Caiyah Ricks winning 2019 Mini Miss.

The Miss Black Clarksville Scholarship Program is a non-profit organization that is operated solely by community volunteers. The program promotes a 100% graduation rate and has awarded over 100 scholarships in the last 13 years. The organization provides enrichment sessions and encouragement for young women.
