CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – On Saturday evening, the adopted son of a slain elderly couple was extradited to Clarksville after being charged with their 2010 double murder.

William Roger Campbell, 63, was indicted on two counts of first degree murder in the 2010 shooting deaths of his adopted parents, William Campbell, 82, and his wife, 81-year-old Ina Campbell, according a news release from Clarksville police Sgt. Charles Gill.

The 63-year-old was indicted after the case was presented to a grand jury last June, the news release said.

On Jan. 29, 2010, officers responded to the scene at 201 Jackson Road and found the elderly couple shot in their beds, each with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia arrested William Roger Campbell at his residence on June 21, and he was extradited back to Clarksville, Gill said in the news release.

Saturday, he was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. No further information was immediately available.
