Independence Day traditionally ranks as one of the year’s deadliest holidays due to drunk-driving crashes. The most recent data available from the 2014 holiday weekend revealed that 164 people were killed in crashes involving at least one driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. That number represents almost half (41%) of all crash fatalities for the entire holiday weekend.
With a record 43 million Americans traveling this Independence Day weekend, there is potential for even worse results. AAA and Budweiser urge anyone celebrating away from home to plan ahead by choosing a Designated Driver, staying where they are celebrating, or arranging for another form of safe transportation.
For those that didn’t plan ahead, Tow to Go will be there to provide a safe way home. Whether you are a AAA member or not, you can call for a Tow to Go ride anytime this Friday, July 1st through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5th. AAA will then transport you and your vehicle home or somewhere safe within 10 miles.
