CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – As a positive way to remember and pay tribute to those who rose in service in response to the attacks of 9/11, and to remind all of us of the importance of working together to improve the lives of others, Volunteer Clarksville in partnership with Hands on Nashville will observe 9/11 Serve to Remember Days of Service from September 1-11.

Clarksville citizens are asked to pay tribute on the days leading up to and including September 11th by joining together in service projects to meet our community’s needs.

The Clarksville Montgomery County 9/11 Days of Service is part of Corporation for National and Community Services’ September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance Challenge. CNCS is a federal agency that helps more than 5 million Americans improve the lives of their fellow citizens through service. They work hand in hand with local partners. In 2011, Clarksville was one of 13 organizations to receive recognition from the Corporation for National and Community Service during the 10th Anniversary Volunteer Challenge.

All types of services are encouraged. Over the coming weeks, there will be many new opportunities to participate in meaningful service and remembrance. You can find many opportunities on the Volunteer Clarksville website. For more information about the Clarksville projects visit our Facebook page.
