CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – On May 1-2, 2010 what was called a ‘100 year flood’ devastated Clarksville with nearly a foot of rainfall.
The Cumberland River overflowed, covering Downtown Clarksville and causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.
Residents in low lying areas throughout the city were forced to move to higher ground, many having to abandon their homes as flood waters went as high as the rooftops.
The great flood occurred just one month after Clarksvillenow.com published for the first time.
