CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The seventh annual Turkeys For Troops event took place on Saturday at Ajax Distributing Co. on Warfield Boulevard, where volunteers distributed frozen turkeys and 2-liter sodas to military families.

The event, which started at 8 a.m., had a steady line of vehicles of active-duty service members, veterans and their families. Volunteers included members of Austin Peay State University’s baseball and softball teams, as well as on-air personalities from Beaver 100.3 and Q108.

“One of the reasons I love doing Turkeys For Troops is it’s a small way for us to say thank you,” said Kyle King, morning show host on Q108. “We can’t thank them enough, but being able to give them a huge bird and some drinks for the holidays is a small token of our appreciation. It’s something I love doing,” he added.

“It’s just a real treat to be out here at this event,” said Maj. Gen. Brett Sylvia, commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell. “You can see all the volunteers from Austin Peay, local businesses, and others, coming together to serve the veterans, soldiers and families. It’s a real honor to be part of this,” he said.

“This is the seventh year of the event,” said Charlie Koon, senior vice president, Community & Business/Military Development manager at Legends Bank. “It’s such a great way for the community to come together to support our veterans and active-duty military. It’s really about honoring those who protect us every day,” he said.
