CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A 77-year-old woman has been charged in a July 2018 crash that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old soldier from Fort Campbell.

A 2017 Chevrolet Traverse driven by 77-year-old Mary Lancaster of Pembroke, Ky. was traveling south on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. around 11:46 a.m.

The Traverse tried to make a left turn onto South Hampton Place when it turned in front of a 1999 Triumph 955i motorcycle driven by Austin McWhite, 23. The motorcycle was traveling north on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. and could not avoid the collision.

McWhite, a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell, died at the scene from his injuries in the crash.

Lancaster was cited on January 22, 2019 with: FAILURE TO YIELD RESULTING IN DEATH/INJURY.
