CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The driver of a tractor/trailer that crashed and caught fire on Interstate 24 this week was a 63-year-old Clarksville man.
Randy Rudd Sr. was killed in the crash, according to his family and a Tennessee Highway Patrol preliminary report.
At 5:40 p.m. Monday, Rudd was driving a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer eastbound when it went off the right side of the highway at mile marker 15.6 and crashed into several trees, the THP report said. The vehicle caught fire. No other vehicles were involved.
The report doesn’t say what caused Rudd to run off the side of the road, and the family said they are awaiting autopsy results.
