CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – “If you have a son by the name of Trevor, who is in a 1st Grade class, he gave my daughter this ring and asked her to be his girlfriend, so she dumped her current boyfriend for your son,” Allie Phillips said in a Facebook post Monday night when her daughter came home with a diamond ring.

Adalie, Phillips’ 6-year-old daughter, had been playing on the playground at school when a little boy from her class named Trevor raced up and handed her the ring, asking her to be his girlfriend.

Adalie already had a boyfriend – they’d been together since Kindergarten – but upon receiving the ring from Trevor, she broke things off with the other boy.

When Phillips heard the story and saw her daughter’s new ring, Phillips took to Facebook, asking if anyone was missing a ring who had a child in her daughter’s class.

“She claims Trevor said it’s a kid ring and he buys them all the time, but it fits my finger, so I wanted to make sure this wasn’t someone’s wedding band/engagement ring. Or just something sentimental. Please reach out to me if this might be your son,” Phillips said in her post. It wasn’t long before the owner was found.

Phillips said Trevor’s mother reached out and confirmed it was Trevor’s great-grandmother’s ring. The ring was returned to its rightful owner Tuesday night.

With the ring now out of the picture, Adalie told Clarksville Now in an interview that she didn’t know which boy to pick because she was “obsessed with boys.” Her mother could be heard laughing as she shouted for Adalie’s dad, who came in and carried the giggling child away.
