CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – County commissioners will vote Monday to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Commissioner Arnold Hodges in District 6.

Six people have submitted their names for consideration, according to applications reviewed by Clarksville Now. These are the applicants:

Randy Albert

Randell “Randy” Albert is self-employed, working with Eastland Green and Pebble Brook Golf Course.

Albert volunteers at Manna Café and Loaves & Fishes and serves as a deacon for Lone Oak Baptist Church.

Devin Daley

Devin Daley is a managing partner and Senior Project Manager at Nex-Gen Construction. He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

“We’ve got to hold the values that are important to us, but also understand that we have to grow. There’s a right way to do it, and I’m sure there’s wrong ways, but I’m a pretty open-minded person,” Daley told Clarksville Now.

Michael Lankford

Michael Lankford is a financial officer at Farm Credit Mid-America. Prior to that, he worked as an extension agent for the University of Tennessee, managing 4H youth development programs in Montgomery County.

Lankford holds an B.S. in Agriculture Business from APSU and an M.S. in Agriculture Business and Risk Management from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

In his application, Lankford expressed concern for the rate of growth in Montgomery County as well as the need for a strategic mindset regarding growth.

Lance Morgan

Lance Morgan is a superintendent with Morgan Contractors, started by his grandfather in 1948. He has served on several local boards and committees, including the Salvation Army Board of Directors, Clarksville Academy Board of Trustees, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee.

Morgan hold a B.S in Agricultural Business from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

“There’s a lot of growing coming to the Cunningham area. Everybody sees it, especially as the 48/13 highway gets widened, and with growth comes change,” Morgan told Clarksville Now. “I just want to look out for what is best for my area.”

Clayton Rudder

Cpl. Clayton Miles Rudder joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in 2013. He currently serves as Circuit/Chancery Court supervisor for the 19th Judicial District.

Rudder holds an associate’s degree in Human Services from Hiwassee College as well as an EMT certification from U.S Army Combat Medical School in San Antonio, Texas.

Jerry Wayman

Retired Sgt. First Class Jerry Wayman served for 21 years as a medic in the 101st Airborne Division with multiple deployments.

He has worked as an advertising executive for the Leaf-Chronicle, a producer for Cochran Advertising and director of Financial Development for the Red Cross of Clarksville.

Wayman prides himself on his volunteer work with groups like the Red Cross and Montgomery County Rescue Squad.

He told Clarksville Now that one of his primary concerns as a commissioner would be the rising cost of living for people who are retired or on a fixed income.

Commissioners will vote to select a new commissioner at their formal meeting on Monday, June 14, at 6 p.m.
