CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A months-long undercover drug operation has concluded in Cheatham County with 57 people being indicted this week and at least two dozen arrests Friday.

The sheriff’s office began the operation in February into people purchasing prescription pills, crystal meth, heroin, and in some cases marijuana.

Overall, investigators presented cases on 57 people to a Cheatham County Grand Jury on Monday.

And on Friday, authorities arrested residents who sold drugs on multiple occasions. At least 24 or 25 were arrested by 10 a.m. after law enforcement began making arrests about four hours prior.

Officers said a lot of the prescription pills were coming from real doctors and ending up in the streets, and most of the heroin was coming out of Nashville.

Law enforcement officers from several different agencies assisted in Cheatham County’s round-up, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, police officers from three different cities, and even the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Further details are expected later Friday.
