CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) honored five of its officers Friday, May 31 as they were promoted in a ceremony held at the CPD Range House.
Following the ceremony, friends and family enjoyed refreshments and snapped photos to commemorate the occasion before gathering outside the adjoining, newly constructed Scenario House to hear a message from Chief Al Ansley.
The Chief proceeded to greet the City Council, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, and Clarksville citizens who made the new facility possible, saying “we used that money to buy what you’re about to see,” a building which he described as far exceeding his expectations.
Mayor McMillan, City Council members, and Ansley then gathered to cut the caution tape which officially opened the Scenario House. Upon entering the interior of the facility, attendees were met with hallways, bedrooms, a living room, and kitchen, all complete with furniture constructed of foam. Large images of assailants are also present in all of the rooms, which will be used by CPD to conduct realistic training for its officers by allowing them to enact the various outcomes of certain scenarios which they could encounter while on the job.
The Scenario House was completed after its groundbreaking, which took place on February 14, with the Mayor, Chief Ansley, and the City Council present.
