CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Thirty-two teams in each class make the football postseason in Tennessee. Unlike some other sports where you can lose certain games and still advance, in football, it’s one loss and you’re done, and all 32 are looking to end their seasons with a gold trophy in Chattanooga.

Let’s take a look at the five Clarksville-area teams participating in the 2025-26 postseason.

Independence Eagles (4-5) @ Clarksville High Wildcats (8-2)

The Wildcats host a playoff game for the fourth straight year, and this year’s foe is the Independence Eagles. Last week, the Eagles earned their spot in the postseason with a 49-21 win over Summitt.

Clarksville High is riding an eight-game win streak, which earned them the region crown for the third year straight. The Wildcats last won a playoff game in 2022, when they defeated John Overton at home with a 47-14 win. That was also the last time a Clarksville-area team has won a playoff game.

Brighton Cardinals (3-7) @ Kirkwood High Cobras (8-2)

Kirkwood hosts their second playoff game in program history after finishing second in region 7-5A. The Brighton Cardinals make the trip up to the pit from Memphis after finishing third in region 8-5A.

This season, the Cobras tied their record from last year at 8-2 for the best record in program history and are now looking for the program’s first postseason win.

Rossview High Hawks (4-6) @ Brentwood Bruins (6-4)

The Hawks rebounded from a 0-4 start to begin the 2025-26 season, as they have gone 4-2 in their last six games under first-year head coach Stratie Young. Their reward? A postseason trip to face the Bruins in Brentwood.

Brentwood’s record is solid, but it doesn’t tell the full story of the tough schedule they’ve faced, highlighted by big wins against Shelbyville, Smyrna, and Franklin. The Hawks will have their hands full but look to earn Young his first-ever playoff victory.

Kenwood High Knights (6-4) @ Munford Cougars (9-1)

The Knights compiled their best record since 2015 this season and earned their first trip to the playoffs since 2021. Now, Kenwood will travel down to Memphis to face Munford High School.

The Cougars have only one loss on the season, and that was at the hands of the champions from region 8-5A, Memphis Central. Munford has picked up big wins on the year, including against Germantown and Whitehaven. Kenwood will look to spoil the Cougars’ great season with a first-round victory.

Fort Campbell Falcons (4-6) @ Owensboro Catholic (9-0)

The Falcons earned another trip to the postseason last week with a high-scoring win over Trigg County to gain the four seed. Now, they will face Owensboro Catholic, the number one-ranked team in class 2A in the state of Kentucky.

Fort Campbell will look to pull off an upset in round one, and big upsets aren’t unfamiliar to the Falcons, as they upset Madisonville High last season in week four, a team they hadn’t beaten in two decades, and was ranked number three in the state of Kentucky.
