Purchasing a home is one of the most expensive things we will buy in our lifetimes. When we sell our home, we want to make sure we get the biggest bang for our buck. Randy and Su Whetsell with the Chief Knows Ft Campbell Homes give us five inexpensive ways to make sure your home reaches its full potential.
1. Fresh paint with neutral colors:
A fresh coat of paint can instantly update your home. Use warm neutral colors such as beige, tan, and grey. Also remember smaller rooms can look larger when you use lighter colors. If there are small dents or plaster cracks use an eggshell finish to help hide those minor imperfections.
2. De-clutter & deep clean:
When potential buyers walk through a home, they like to visualize themselves living there. When your home is full of clutter, buyers will be too distracted by your things to imagine where their belongings will fit.
3. Kitchen face lift:
The kitchen is the heart of the home. Painting cabinets will help with hiding scratches and nicks without having to spend large amounts of money. Switching outdated hardware with newer cabinet and drawer pulls is a great way to update your kitchen while staying on budget.
4. Landscape:
Invest in curb appeal. Clear debris from your yard, trim the hedges, and clean the gutters to make your home more attractive. Tangled trees and unkempt bushes can obscure views, darken interiors, promote mold, and block a good look at the house.
5. Let Light in:
Poor lighting or outdated light fixtures can take away attention from some of your home’s most attractive features. Spending as little as $100 on new fixtures can give the house a more modern feel and keep buyers focused on its best attributes.
