CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – This week marks the start of the fall 2025-26 high school sports regular season for the TSSAA. There are a lot of stories, rivalries, and unforgettable games to come this fall, so let’s take a look at the top storylines heading into the new school year.
Better the second time around?
There’s only one new head coach in Clarksville-area football this year, and that’s Rossview High head coach Stratie Young.

However, there are four head coaches entering year two: Northeast’s Deonte Weston, Montgomery Central’s Wyatt Page, Northwest’s Mark Hall, and West Creek’s Micheal Booker. It’ll be exciting to see how it plays out for each head coach and their programs over the course of the new season.
Murfreesboro or bust?
There’s only one goal on the mind of every Clarksville-area volleyball team – getting to Murfreesboro.
Clarksville High has been on the doorstep in sub-state the past seven years but has fallen just short each time. Is this the year that a team from Clarksville breaks through and earns the right to compete at the glass house?

Who reigns supreme on the pitch?
The best girls’ soccer team in Clarksville has been a very contentious title over the past few seasons.
Clarksville High and Rossview have battled it out for region championships the past few years. West Creek has had lots of success, winning two district titles, and Kirkwood, now that they’ve got two years under their belt as a program, is on the upswing. What team comes out on top this year on the pitch?

High school football postseason woes
Clarksville-area football teams have compiled an overall record of 0-7 in the postseason over the last two years.
The last time a Clarksville-area football team won a playoff game was when Clarksville High School defeated Overton High in the first round of the 2022 postseason, a game they won 47-14.
We’ll see over the course of the season if a Clarksville-area school will break through to the second round and potentially make a deep run in 2025-26.
