CLARKSVILLE, TN – In the latest round of Girls National High School Wrestling Rankings, a collaborative effort by USA Wrestling, FloWrestling, and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, four local wrestlers hit the national rankings.
West Creek’s Mariana Bowen is #23 at 135 pounds, Montgomery Central’s Audrey Levendusky is #28 at 145 pounds, Northwest’s Sally Johnson is #29 at 145 pounds, and Rossview’s Irelynn Laurin is #23 at 190 pounds.
Bowen is a sophomore two-time TSSAA state champion who recently placed 4th at NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach, earning All-American distinction. Levendusky is also a sophomore two-time TSSAA state champion and last weekend became a TN-USAW freestyle state champion. The girls wrestle folkstyle in the regular high school season and freestyle, the college and Olympic style of wrestling, in the offseason. Levendusky also placed 4th in Iowa last fall at USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals, earning All-American honors.
Johnson was a state runner-up this year, and since then has placed in two national tournaments—3rd at USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals and 4th at NHSCA Nationals. Laurin became a USA Wrestling All-American at the Fargo Freestyle National Championships last summer.
In all, nine Tennessee girls were ranked, including Cleveland’s Piper Fowler, a world champion who has been ranked #1 for the last year.
