CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Four Clarksville-area teams competed in seven-on-seven action Tuesday night at Clarksville High School. Northeast, West Creek, Kenwood and Clarksville High competed against each other and an assortment of schools around the area, such as Stewart County, Creek Wood, Maplewood and Dickson County.

The games gave both the coaches and the players a sense of what to expect this fall.

Northeast head coach Deonte Weston, who is entering year two with the Eagles, said his squad was very young last year, and with all of those players returning, he’s starting to see growth.

“We came out a little slow, but we came out tonight and competed,” said Weston. “The biggest thing right now is trying to get chemistry down, on both sides of the ball. Our guys are starting to buy into our culture, and we’re starting to learn how to win. A few times last year, we had games we could’ve grabbed, but we didn’t know how to finish, and that’s part of turning around this culture.”

Another coach entering year two is West Creek’s Michael Booker, and in year one, his Coyotes were one game away from making the playoffs. Booker, is looking for his program to take the next step in year two.

“We were fantastic tonight, we ran around and made plays,” said Booker. “Our culture is starting to show up on the field, and we’re putting together a really good team on both sides of the ball. This year, our guys know what to expect as far as my expectations, and they are doing a great job of working towards our goals.”
