On the morning of Jan. 28, Clarksville Police responded to a shots fired call at Dodge’s, where Jarlen Corbin, 29, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Based on surveillance footage, officers believed there would be more victims. Shortly afterward, Barnes, 21, and Hamlin, 28, arrived at Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville with gunshot wounds.

During a preliminary hearing in February, a bystander told the court he had stopped at the gas station that morning, and as he walked back to his vehicle, three people opened fire, shooting at Corbin. The veteran said he was armed and fired four to five rounds each at two of the shooters. He said they scrambled back to their vehicles and drove away.

Corbin later died from his injuries.

Hamlin and Barnes argued at the hearing that they were acting in self-defense and that Corbin had flashed his gun at them.

No information has been released on McFarlan’s role in the incident.
