Families, friends and fellow soldiers filled Hangar 3 at Fort Campbell early Sunday, October 11 to welcome home 210 soldiers with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team (BCT) “Rakkasans” as they returned from their 9-month deployment to Afghanistan. The Welcome Home Ceremony included the uncasing of the brigade colors which signifies the completion of the unit’s mission and their return to Fort Campbell.
Commander of the 3rd BCT, Colonel J.B. Vowell talked about coming home. “It feels great to be home. You can feel the emotion of families being reunited after over 9-months being separated with no R & R and no leave. It’s great to come back to Fort Campbell,” said Vowell.
Two other Welcome Home Ceremonies are scheduled for 3rd BCT soldiers. One on Wednesday, October 14 and another on Tuesday, October 20. A reminder that all returns are subject to change in date and time.
